?✨Matt Cosgrove - Virtual Author Visit?✨

Matt Cosgrove (Virtual Author Visit) - Over 350 schools. Thousands of young minds. And one unforgettable Book Week session! ?✨
Our Years 3–6 students joined a live virtual workshop with author-illustrator duo Matt Cosgrove and Eva Amores — the creative team behind Macca the Alpaca, Justin Chase, and Captain Fluffykins (the world’s grumpiest cat).
From behind-the-scenes writing tips to hilarious live drawing, students discovered that real authors follow the writing process too (yep, it’s not just something teachers go on about...).
Now inspired and bursting with ideas, our budding authors are ready to write their own bestsellers!

??Hinchinbrook Libray Book Week Visit ??

Last Tuesday, our Prep and Year 1 students had some special visitors from the Hinchinbrook Library to celebrate Book Week. The students enjoyed a shared story and got participate in some activities related to the book, including some crafty creations!

?✨ Year 4 Excursion to Mungalla ✨?

Our Year 4 students had an unforgettable excursion to Mungalla Station, where they were immersed in the rich art, culture, history, dance, and traditions of the Nywaigi people. Students explored traditional stories, held cultural artefacts, and learned about the importance of caring for Country. Every activity sparked curiosity and deep engagement.
A highlight of the day was listening to the beautiful sounds of the Didgeridoo. Students concentrated carefully to recognise which animals Arami was representing through music, discovering the powerful role of storytelling and sound in First Nations culture. ??
Students also designed and decorated their own boomerangs, before having a go at throwing one! There were lots of laughs, plenty of focus, and so much excitement as they practised this traditional skill.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Uncle Jacob, Aunty Joanne, and Arami for welcoming us onto Country and generously sharing your knowledge, stories, and passion for teaching. Your wisdom and care made this experience truly memorable.
Our students loved learning in the outdoor classroom, surrounded by the land and culture that bring these traditions to life. It was a day filled with respect, curiosity, and appreciation for First Nations culture.
? We are so grateful for this special opportunity to connect, learn, and grow.
