Year 4 Italian

Our Year 4 students are buzzing with excitement as they dive into all things Italy this term! They couldn't wait to share an interesting fact about the Colosseum with Mrs Desailly and Mrs Sheahan!
The Lourdes community is thrilled to welcome Signora Quabba back this term, her presence has been warmly celebrated by students and staff!

1A Steps back in Time to the Days of Jesus

Today, Mr Gori and Mrs Desailly joined 1A during their RE lesson. The students explored the similarities and differences between life today and life when Jesus was a boy. They even dressed up in clothing representing both time periods and took part in role-play activities. The children were highly engaged and asked some wonderfully thought-provoking questions!

Science Week Fun – Paper Plane Challenge!

On Wednesday the 13th August, our play areas turned into a runway as students tested their engineering skills in our Science Week Paper Plane Challenge!
Armed with eight different designs, students came to see just how far their creations could soar. Students measured their furthest throw with some throws beyond 12 metres.
This afternoon, our Leadership Team joined 3B, Prep B, and 1A for some Physical Science learning. The word of the day? Gravity!  We explored how it plays a big role in every flight — from take-off to landing.
We can’t wait to see what exciting science adventures tomorrow will bring!

What's Been Happening in 3A

3A students have been engaged in learning about multiplication. We have made groups, arrays and used these techniques to calculate real life situations within a shopping environment.
Our class has also been learning about the diverse characteristics of weather in Australia. They have investigated climatic weather zones around the world. Using atlases they have been able to map coordinates and locate natural and man made landmarks.

Year 1 Beach Excursion

Our Year 1 classes visited Forrest Beach as part of their English Unit. They have been learning about writing informative texts and rules. Students will use their experience  to then write about their excursion and develop a game that can be played at the beach. They had lots of fun learning the rules about safety at the beach as well as engaging in some fun rotations. Lifesaver Sarah made an appearance and spoke with the children about all things "safety" whilst having fun visiting our Beaches.

Whats happening in 3B

3B students have been captivated by our novel study of 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl. The class is thoroughly enjoying this hilarious story, diving into the mischievous world of Mr. and Mrs. Twit while eagerly predicting what tricks and pranks will happen next.
Our budding dancers have also been exploring dynamics and expression in dance, mastering the six main dynamic qualities to create fun, energetic, and delightfully silly routines. The classroom has been filled with laughter as students experiment with creative movement!
It's been a wonderful week of literary adventures and expressive dance in 3B!

Rock and Water in 5B

5B recently took part in a Rock and Water wellbeing session focused on building resilience and positive peer interactions.
Through engaging activities and guided discussions, students explored strategies to manage challenging situations with friends, learning how to stay grounded like a "rock" and flexible like "water."
The session helped them understand solidarity, develop confidence, emotional awareness, and the strength to respond calmly and respectfully in social situations.?

Multiplication in Action

Two teams, one mission: be the first to solve one-digit × four-number problems! Year 5 turned up the energy today to practice their multiplication operations in a Multiplication Relay Showdown!
Laughter, teamwork, and lightning-fast maths skills filled the room and the competition was fierce but fun.

????Book Week Parade 2025 ????

Here is a sneak peak at our morning of fun, as we celebrated our Book Week Parade!
It was extra exciting to welcome our Playgroup and Kindy friends! Thank you for joining us ?
A BIG thank you to Mrs Mendiolea for all her hard work bringing today together and to all of our families for the amazing costumes! ?✨

?Prep Geography Excursion?

Our Prep students had an exciting excursion to the Botanical Gardens as part of their HASS and Maths units. The children explored their environment while practicing prepositional language, describing the location of objects using words like "next to," "between," and "across."
It was a fun, hands-on way to connect classroom learning with the real world!
