Year 2 Religion News

This term, Year 2 has been learning about the Sisters of Mercy and their important work. We were fortunate to have Sister Nina visit our students and share her first-hand experiences about the role of the Sisters of Mercy in our Parish and local community.

Sister Nina spoke about her role in visiting the sick, her time in Papua New Guinea, and her experiences working with children who had very little. She explained how she taught and cared for these children, emphasising the values of compassion and service to others in need.

Her visit was truly inspiring and provided our students with a deeper understanding of the impact of her work. They thoroughly enjoyed hearing about her experiences. A heartfelt thank you to Sister Nina for taking the time to visit and share her incredible story with us.

?Year 2 Fun Friday?

In Year 2, our Fun Friday -Writing sessions are picking up speed! Last Friday, we put on our editing glasses and got to work with green pens and pencils, carefully checking our writing for capital letters, spelling, finger spaces, and making sure every sentence made sense.
It’s all part of the writing process, and we’re having so much fun getting our work just right! Don't we look wonderful in our editing glasses? ?✏️?

?What's Happening in 1A?✨

Students in 1A have been busy representing, ordering and recognising numbers in maths. We have enjoyed using a range of materials to represent numbers and understanding place value and the importance of 10.

?‍♂️?It's Swimming Time ?‍♂️?

The students were so excited for swimming lessons to begin this week! We saw some amazing swimming and safety skills across all grades. It is wonderful to see the progress being made.
Thank you coaches Jess, Jess. Tash, Mark & Ryan for providing valuable lessons.

✍️Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN Update ✍️

We are finshed our testing period, with only a few catch up tests to complete next week. Thank you to our Chaplain, Mrs Giliberto, for coordinating generous donations with Coles and Woolworths to give our students a daily breakfast during this busy testing period. Special thanks to Mrs Lenzo, Mrs Gusmeroli and Mrs Tomba for helping Mrs Giliberto each morning.
We are incredibly proud of our students' effort and commitment throughout the testing process. Every student has stayed focused and consistently put forth their best effort, and we couldn't be more proud of their hard work. Well done, Year 3 and 5 students.

Harmony Day

Our Lady of Lourdes proudly celebrated Harmony Day, a special occasion dedicated to promoting inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for all. Many students and staff wore orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, to symbolise unity and support for our culturally diverse community. The day served as a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the importance of acceptance and appreciation of different backgrounds, reinforcing our school’s commitment to fostering a welcoming environment for everyone. Thank you to all who participated in this meaningful celebration!
