Principals Report
Dear Our Lady of Lourdes Community,
As we reflect on the past few weeks, I want to take a moment to commend and celebrate the resilience, strength, and spirit of our school community. The recent flooding presented challenges, but together, we have navigated these obstacles with determination and faith. I am incredibly proud of how we have supported one another and continued to thrive as a school family.
The past fortnight has been filled with wonderful celebrations and milestones. Our Welcome Assembly was a heartwarming occasion, bringing together students, staff, and families in the spirit of unity, welcoming our newest members of our school community. The Induction Mass was a beautiful reminder of our shared faith and the leadership within our school. We also presented our very first Lighthouse Awards, recognising the outstanding efforts and achievements of our students. Congratulations to all our recipients!
This week, we embarked on our Lenten journey with meaningful events. Our Shrove Tuesday Breakfast Club was a fantastic way to gather in fellowship before the solemnity of Ash Wednesday. Our Ash Wednesday liturgy provided a reflective space for our community as we enter this sacred season of preparation and renewal.
Looking ahead, our Year 3 and 5 students will begin their NAPLAN testing next week. We wish them all the best and encourage them to do their very best while remembering that their abilities extend far beyond any test results.
In the coming weeks, we have several significant events to look forward to. Our first FACE and Board Meeting will provide an opportunity for collaboration and planning, ensuring our school continues to grow and flourish. We are also excited to host our first Family BBQ of the year, a wonderful occasion to strengthen our bonds as a school community.
Additionally, we have some exciting updates regarding our school grounds. Our demolition project is nearly complete, and restoration work has begun. We anticipate that new turf will be laid next week, bringing us one step closer to providing more play space for our students by the end of this term. This progress is a testament to our commitment to providing a vibrant and safe environment for our children.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and dedication to Our Lady of Lourdes. Together, we are building a strong, faith-filled community that overcomes challenges and celebrates each other’s successes.
Blessings,
Jo Desailly
